Altimeter/variometer
Altitude / vario meter.
The vario altimeter consist of 4 modules.
- 1 pressure sensor /frequency oscillator
- 2 transmitter (any frequency)
- 3 receiver ( same band as transmitter )
- 4 tone-decoder digital U-meter (audible and visual signal)
- optional On Screen display for video
The design:
The first module is the pressure sensor which is temperature adjusted.
pressure is being converted in a low voltage which is boosted
by a OPAMP (operational amplifier). giving a offset in millivolts.
one meter is one millivolt. this voltage is being converted to
tone through a VCO (Voltage Controlled Oscillator). height (air
pressure) is being converted to tone of a specific frequency 1m
eqs. 1 Hz audible Resolution is 0.08 m/second, visual resolution
= 1m
the transmitter can be on any frequency as is the receiver. Charles
Fort from France has developed also a video transmitter with altitude
meter and onscreen display for Drones.
