"ROOF OF THE WORLD"
Tibet is the highest country in the world (average height 4000 m) Population: 2.5 million Tibetans and 3 million Chinese. Because of Chinese occupation hundreds of thousands of Tibetans are fugitive, are killed or political prisoner
"WHO'S THE BOSS IN TIBET?"
Since the occupation in 1950 ,the Chinese government encourages Chinese to move to Tibet in order to make it a Chinese province. Chinese get paid better, get licenses more easily, Tibetan neighbourhoods demolished and the ground sold to Chinese, etc. The Tibetan language is prohibitted at schools in a campaign to erase Tibet's culture and its independence movement.
"THE DALAI LAMA"
The Tibetans are Buddhists. Their real god/king is "His Holiness the Dalai Lama" Buddhist believe in reincarnation and "non-violence" It's prohibitted to harm any life. When China invaded Tibet, the 8000Tibetans who were willing to fight were no match for the Chinese troops. The Dalai Lama went in exile in Dharsamsala in India
"DEMOLISHED MONESTARIES"
Most of the 6000 Tibetan Monestaries were demolished by the Chinese. ( "Praying = waste of time")
The biggest was the monestary "Drepung" outside Lhasa, where 10.000 monks used to live. Today it's partially rebuilt, but only 700 monks are allowed to live there. They are not allowed to have a portrait of the Dalai Lama on the wall and if they do they are imprisoned
"PRAYING"
Praying for Tibetans is very important. The more the better.
They invented the "Praying-mill" , a cilinder with prayers written on strips of paper. "Turning=praying"
"ON THE RUN"
One of the many Tibetan children in a Nepalese Refugee-camp, waiting for transport to the "Childrensvillage" near Dharamsala in India, where over 1500 Children are raised in the Tibetan tradition and get proper food and medical care and, what's very important: are in the proximity of the Dalai Lama. When they're older they return to their homes, or try to find work in India.
