During this period Sting frequently dedicated Bring On The Night to Gary Gilmore. He was a petty criminal who eventually murdered two people. In keeping with Utah's Mormon blood-letting tradition, Gilmore asked to be executed by firing squad and did not wish to stop his own execution.
