During Walking On The Moon: "You aren't singing. I can see you aren't singing". Before Man In The Suitcase: "I got a very funny feeling here. I got the feeling I know everybody. A lot of relations. This is called Bring On The Night". Instead Stewart counted in and started Man In The Suitcase and Sting shouted: "Ah, no. No", but they all joined in and finished the song. The day after the show (12-01-1981) Sting told a reporter at his hotel room: "It's fatigue. We're punching this as far as it will go. It's really starting to tell on me. I'm a bit worried at this juncture. Last night I felt as if I'd done the songs too many times. I'd never had that feeling before. I was really bad, just ... inconsolable. I'd forgotten what I was singing about. It was a terrible anticlimax after the Garden as well. I used to be a glorious amateur and love every minute. My whole week was centered on waiting for Wednesday night when my old band Last Exit played the Gosforth Hotel in Newcastle. But now it's such a pain to get through a show - actual physical pain in my throat I mean. You can hear it" (from "L'Historia Bandido"). |
