The 25th anniversary of the Montreux Jazz Festival - 20 nights - was co-produced by Quincy Jones began with an acoustic concert by Sting, followed by Bootsy Collins, Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt, The Robert Cray Band, Andy Summers, Charlie Haden's Liberation Music, Lavern Baker, B.B. King, Ray Charles, Milton Nascimento, Rachelle Ferrell, The Atlanta Superchoir, Reverend Jesse Jackson, Champion Jack Dupree, Allen Toussaint, Dirty Dozen Brass Band and many others. Miles Davis played a concert with the Gil Evans Orchestra. The complete show was braodcasted on a Swiss radiostation. Fareed Haque (who played guitar on They Dance Alone on the album Nothing Like The Sun) joined on guitar during the encores. |
