21-07-1996 / Pittsburgh, PA / Star Lake Amphitheatre / USA • Setlist same as: 23-06-1996, but without Let Your Soul Be Your Pilot and Mad About You. • Support act: Lyle Lovett. Five days after the show in Scranton, PA another show was played in Pennsylvania. Before I Was Brought To My Senses: "Very nice to be in Pennsylvania one more time. Pittsburgh is very like my home-town in England. Steel, coal, dirt, redundancy. I know what it feels like. I just killed people's spirits, right?". Before Seven Days Sting pointed out to a guy: "Is that your wife next to you, sir? Looks like my wife actually. What's she doing tonight?". Next Sting tried to refresh his memory: "The first time I ever played in Pittsburgh was at a little club called The Showbox. Remember that club?". One bloke in the front reacted and Sting continued: "You were there? I REMEMBER YOU. You had hair in those days, right? Me too". Sting was wrong, the first show The Police ever performed in Pittsburgh was at Phase III on 31-10-1978. The only time they played at a venue named The Showbox was in Seattle, WA on 01-02-1980. Instead of picking someone from the audience to join him during I'm So Happy I Can't Stop Crying Sting called out for Lyle Lovett to share the vocals. |
