18-11-1996 / Dublin / The Point Depot / IRELAND • Setlist same as: 17-11-1996, but Twenty Five To Midnight was performed after Fields Of Gold. • Support act: Shawn Colvin. • Attendance: 4,500; sellout. The audience was more enthusiastic compared to the previous night. Before I Was Brought To My Senses: "Last night was our first show in Dublin, but I know you people bought the tickets first. Last night the people were: 'Shall we go down and see Sting?. Naeh. Alright then'. So appreciate you being here. It's been eight years since I have been here last time. I was sixteen at the time. [Some people started to shout]. I'm trying to concentrate, stop shouting at me". Referring to Shawn Colvin's set Sting said before Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic: "You might heard this. One more time". "I spent a lot of time in this town, you don't know that. When I was seventeen I spent a week sleeping in Saint Stephen's green. And then there was a place on O'Connell Street called the Nightbite. I slept at the doorstep for a week. I spent seven days on Dun Laoghaire pier. I stayed in the best places in Dublin. This song is called Seven Days". Halfway through the show Danny changed Sting's bass. "He is such a fussbar. He wants to tune the base. It was in tune when we bought it, Danny. So you know a band is only as good as its drummer. We have to best drummer in the world. Best guitarist, Dominic Miller. The amazing Kenny Kirkland. Clark and Butch. The only weak lid is the bass player, but I own the PA and the van. This is called You Still Touch Me". Before Fields Of Gold Sting drank some water: "It's very dry in this room. It's not like Ireland at all. It's the only dry place in Ireland". Before Twenty Five To Midnight: "This next song is about a musician who leaves home and goes to the big city to try and make it. But he fails. I could have been me. I was just lucky". After saying: "Last night we had a lot of fun up here", Sting introduced a man and woman on stage. The guy ("Kevin") warned the audience about his singing qualities: "If I could be two people and I was sitting down watching, I'd run for the fucking exit". |
