On 02-11-2001 Sting recorded a session for BBC2 "Top of the Pops 2" before a studio audience at Television Centre (Wood Lane, Shepherds Bush) in London. Ahead of the main recording, Sting, Dominic Miller, Christian McBride and Miles Bould retired to the Studio’s intimate bar area, where they recorded a version of Fragile. This took several takes as Dominic had a few tuning problems and then there seemed to be some confusion over which arrangement of the song they were playing. Some light hearted banter later, an acceptable take was recorded and Sting was dragged off to the bar to record some intro and continuity links. Sting opened the ten song set, not with bass in hand but with a tambourine, performing If You Love Somebody Set Them Free. During Don’t Stand So Close To Me the TV backdrops played clips of past appearances by both The Police and Sting on Top Of The Pops. Sting introduced Roxanne by teasing the audience that this was "not an autobiographical song". At last Sting put down his tambourine and strapped on his trusty Fender P, before launching into If I Ever Lose My Faith In You. The performance was broadcasted by BBC2 on 14-11-2001 and repeated on 17-11-2001. The version of Fragile recorded at the bar was broadcasted, instead of the version recorded in the regular studio. The latter remains to be unbroadcasted.
