Magdalena lives in two worlds as well. On the one hand she honours the old traditions and longs for yesterday. On the other hand she is spoiled by television and is the proud owner of a mobile telephone.
That must be difficult and confusing, especially now that her husband has died. I donít know if her nieces eat here because Magdalena is lonely or because of the traditional food she cooks. Today I ate soup with seal meat and potatoes. The smell was extraordinary and I can still taste the penetrating flavours. Itís definitely not my favorite dish, but it would be a pity if traditions like this would have to make place for spaghetti or Chinese take-out.
