This little page is all about FIDO... No that's not the name off my dog (She's called Djoena BTW, and is not available for download).

Fido is a network of BBSs that share messages with each other, like the internet newsgroups, but different...

First, because of the way Fido works, mail takes a few days to reach other mailers.. Sometimes it can takes weeks to even get a reply from a message.. Sometimes, Fido is a bad dog, and eats the mail..

Another thing about Fido is that sometimes the links between continents/countries is broken, which means you don't get any mail from the people from those countries, and, when the link is fixed, you get a few hundreds of messages to sort through.. If you get them it is..

So why do I keep up with Fido ? It's fun that's why, I like it a lot, and lots of others do... The "Echo" (Conferrence) I enjoy the most is the Fido Amiga echo (Duh !), there are lots off great people there (Like me }-> ) offering their help and advice, or their opinions/ideas.. Topics range from adding a simm to your A1200, to the (off topic) A\Box, or any other future Amiga's..

I can't really explain why you should try to get on Fido, but to me, it's a second home, and it doesn't cost much.. (I pay 30 Dutch Guilders for full Internet access a month, and 25 guilders for full Fido access a year) To join, all you have to do is find a local BBS that carries Fido, and see if they have the Amiga echo.. If not, ask if the sysop can get it for you.. Some BBS don't charge you for reading online, but to write you often need to pay a small amount, and you need to get some mailing software to read offline.. For the Amiga there are several options, like Trapdoor for getting the mail, and Spot for reading it.. (there are also Thor, April and Foozle, and lots more)

If you're an Amiga fan, you should try it..
